Identity Theft #s
This is one of the major topics and assignments in IT, therefore, you should be working hard all class using sites like wikipedia to help you out.
1. Define Identity Theft using google.com, wikipedia.com, or dictionary.com. Make sure you put your source of information, that is the address of the website you used in brackets. For example, if you go to dictionary.com and type in a search for identity theft the web address will be: (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/identity%20theft). You cannot simply put (google.ca) as a reference as this does not direct the reader to the actual source of your information.
2. Give at least three examples of how identity theft can occur.
3. How can identity theft ruin financial resources?
4. How serious of an issue is it, are there any statistics on the crime rates?
5. Is it easy to become a victim of identity theft, explain why or why not?
6. What sort of problems will a victim have after an identity theft?
7. What type of information is usually taken in a theft?
8. How is this information obtained?
9. What are some ways to prevent yourself from becoming a victim.
10. Finally, what should you do if you have been victimized by identity theft?
These answers will not be obtained easily, so take your time, be prepared to share your answers as we will be having a class discussion on this topic. And remember to site all your sources in brackets.
This assignment will take two classes. One for searching and answering the questions and one for a class discussion.
